TAWU/NAWASA Workers accept 16 ½ % Wage Increase.
Workers at the National Water & Sewerage Authority under the Bargaining Unit
of the Technical & Allied Workers' Union voted unanimously in a secret ballot to
accept a 16 ½ % wage increase negotiated by the Union.
The Technical and Allied Workers’ Union and NAWASA had been in
negotiations for a new Collective Agreement for the period 2010 - 2013 and the
parties reached a tentative agreement of 16 ½ % increases in pay over the three
year period.
The workers have ratified the agreement paving the way for a final settlement.
The parties still have a few outstanding matters to be settled but union sources
feel confident that a comprehensive agreement on the new Collective Labour
Contract should be reached.
Issued by TAWU:
The TAWU negotiating team is lead by Senator Chester Humphrey and included the Union's Assistant
General Secretary Trevor Xavier.
